Representing Our Hardworking Longshoreman & Harbor Workers

Newburyport is a thriving oceanside community. Our relationships with our port and with ocean life are huge parts of who we are. But all the port communities up and down the Massachusetts coastline know just how dangerous the sea is.

At St. Pierre Law, we value longshoremen's and harbor workers' efforts and labor. You are our friends, family and neighbors. Our firm cares about you and your loved ones. You have fierce advocates. If you are suffering from injuries caused in the line of work, call our office. Our lawyers will help you.

Understanding The Division Of Longshore And Harbor Workers' Compensation (DLHWC)

Our country began protecting our longshoremen and harbor workers in 1927 with the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. Under the act, injured longshoremen and their family have additional benefits and protections.

If you believe you have a DLHWC claim, there are a few things to know:

  • DLHWC benefits are in addition to, not a replacement for, your regular workers' compensation claim.
  • If you are a longshoreman or a harbor worker, your employer is required to carry additional insurance for DLHWC claims.
  • If your loved one passes away or is severely impaired, you can pursue benefits as their widow(er).

Our attorneys are well-versed personal injury lawyers. We represent our area's maritime workers. Since 1989, you know you can come to us for the information and representation you need.
